How important is mindset really?
When talking about the outdoors we hear terms like “grit”, “resilience”, and “growth mindset” all the time. But how does time spent outdoors actually translate into a stronger mindset? And is there anything the rest of us can learn from those pushing the absolute limits of sport? This fall we’re sitting down with our friend Benny Marr to find out.
Benny Marr is one of the world’s best whitewater kayakers. As a professional paddler, explorer, and teacher, he holds the first descent of Site Zed on the Stikine River, has been a medalist in the Whitewater Grand Prix, is a multiple time winner of “Rider of the Year”, and is a pioneer of big wave river surfing.
Benny knows a thing or two about the mental side of outdoor sport…
Benny likes to say “getting better at anything makes you better at everything”. His pursuit of paddling rivers around the world has led him on a personal journey to understand the challenges we all face in seeking our stronger, healthier, more confident selves. His skill on the water is matched only by his humility and curiosity in working with others.
Join us as we discuss questions such as…
Why is it worth the time to address mindset?
What role does community and mentorship play in helping us improve our mental game?
How can physical practices build a better mindset?
Why is self-development in this area so important for someone teaching, leading, or working with others?
What are common mistakes we make that unintentionally hold us back?
